A Bittersweet Memoir – The journey of a daughter losing her father.

I was born into a dysfunctional family, and I spend most of my time alone. I was lonely and vulnerable.

Growing up, there was one person I held on to as he showed me he cared. I was Daddy’s little girl.

Throughout my teen years, I did my best to hold on, yet my lack of love and affection did me wrong. He wasn’t there for me anymore as he used to be when I was little.

This is the story of what it meant to lose the only person who ever cared.

I had always known I would receive a phone call about him one day. Despite our differences and our physical distance, the bond was still there.

Yet I made this promise as a child, which I intended to keep no matter what.

I will discuss relevant situations, some of the events before and after the phone call that I wasn’t prepared for, and how I coped with them.

You'll know I love poetry if you’re familiar with my writing. I’ve added some poems here and there whenever it felt necessary. I enjoy using poems to discuss sensitive subjects. They keep the wording light and let my creativity free.
